We suggest you start your visit from the Basilica. Dedicated to the SS. Salvatore and to the SS. John the Baptist and John the Evangelist, is the oldest church of Christianity, commissioned by the emperor Constantine after his conversion and his victory over Maxentius and consecrated in 324 AD. Then continue with a visit to the Cloister, a masterpiece of Cosmatesque art from the early 13th century, where many sculptures and ornaments are kept, including works by Arnolfo di Cambio. Then move outside to visit the Baptistery. At the end, you can complete the visit by accessing the Scala Sancta building and admiring the Chapel of the Sancta Santorum.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Please be advised that, from November 20, 2024 until December 20, 2024, barring any further needs, entry to the basilica will be permitted exclusively from Piazza San Giovanni Paolo II (Obelisco side).
