hideCastel Nuovo, or more commonly Maschio Angioino, is a historic medieval and Renaissance castle, as well as one of the symbols of the city of Naples. The castle dominates the scenic Piazza Municipio. In the complex is also located the Civic Museum, which includes the Palatine Chapel and the museum routes of the first and second floors.
Currently it is possible to visit the internal rooms such as the Sala dei Baroni, the main one of the Castle, frescoed by Giotto, with the splendid octagonal vault and the Sala dell'Armeria where archaeological remains of Roman times have been found. The Palatine Chapel is the only evidence of the ancient Angevin palace and there are some sculptures of the Neapolitan Renaissance.
